Trust God's Name

"And those who know Your name
will put their trust in You."

Psalm 9:10

If I wrote my name on a bank check for a million dollars, it would be worthless. If I wrote my name on a check for an amount which my account could afford, it could be cashed. There is value in a name as far as a bank is concerned. There is value in a name as far as God is concerned. God's name reveals who He is. His name tells us what He can do in our lives. In the name of the LORD, His covenant name, we find the key to all of God's covenant promises. All those promises are Yes and Amen in the name of the LORD JESUS (2 Corinthians 1:18-20).

No other god can save us, that is to deliver us from sin, death, and judgment, but the LORD God of heaven and earth. There's something about that name. For this reason, we read the same promise in both the Old and New Testaments: "Whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved" (Joel 2:32; Romans 10:13). That's a covenant promise of the LORD. He has bound Himself to all believers by the power of His word given with an oath. Covenant promises are secured through the sacrifice of His Son. That's the reason all the promises of God in Jesus are Yes.

As you read the covenant promises of God in the Bible, don't be reluctant to trust God's word. For that reason Jesus quoted: "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God" (Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4). Trust God's name.

Prayer: LORD, we trust in Your name.
