When We Seek God

"He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him"

Hebrews 11:6

Left to ourselves, we would never seek God. Scripture makes this truth abundantly clear. Look at Romans 3:11. "There is none that seeks after God." Man left in his natural, sinful state simply has no desire to seek God. Sin has corrupted our hearts in mind, will, and emotion. However, if you are seeking God, it is a sure sign that He has already sought you. Faith always seeks after God, and that faith will never be disappointed. God's reward is for "those who diligently seek Him." Faith will always press on to God. That faith is drawn to God like metal to a magnet. It will not give up, let up, or be satisfied until it is satisfied in God alone.

A young lady shared her frustration in life with her minister. She said, "I am so frustrated. I want to know and do God's will for my life, but it seems like I can't get there. What should I do?" Her minister replied, "It's not what you should do, rather it's what God is doing in you. He is working in your heart to know and do His will." At first, she simply did not understand what he was saying, so he opened his Bible to Hebrews 13:21. He read these words, God will "make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ ..."

Are you seeking God, to know and do His will for your life? You may even be frustrated, because you don't seem to get to that point. I've got good news for you. God is working in your heart to desire the knowledge of His will for your life. He is leading you now, even through your frustration. Take it a day at the time. That which He has begun in you, He will continue to perform through Christ (Philippians 1:6). God is not finished with you yet. He's still working in you, that's the reason you are seeking God.

Father, we praise You for working in us to seek You, through Jesus our Lord. Amen.
