"Blessed is he who considers the poor.
The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble."
The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble."
Psalm 41:1
A person said to a wealthy man, "You sure are generous in helping poor people in trouble. What motivates you to such generosity?" The man replied, "You haven't known me long, but I know what it means to be poor. Besides, I never know when I may be in trouble and need some help. The good Lord has blessed me, and I want to be a blessing to others. I hope that I am." Whether that wealthy man had ever read Psalm 41:1, we don't know. We do know that God has made a covenant promise to help those who consider the poor.
Sooner or later, most all of us come to a time of trouble. There are some wonderful promises in the Bible for us, when we are in trouble. Psalm 41:1 is one of those promises. Please don't think that you can buy God's help. That's not the point. However, the people who are in a covenant relationship with God know Him as LORD of their lives. They know what it means to receive covenant blessings. God changes our hearts that we may desire to help others. In the hearts of God's covenant children, they know their LORD will do as much for them.
Say, I hope you are not in trouble today, but if you are, the LORD is able to deliver you. Submit your life to the LORD. Believe His promise. Trust Him to deliver you. Obey His word. We seldom know how nor when He will deliver us, but His promise is sure for all who enter into covenant with Him. Doubt says, "I know the LORD could deliver me, but I'm not sure that He will." Faith says, "The LORD will deliver me in time of trouble."
LORD, we trust Your word, and believe Your promise to deliver us.
