"I will hide My face from them
. . . Children in whom there is no faith."
. . . Children in whom there is no faith."
Deuteronomy 32:20
He always knew when his wife was upset with him. She would look away. There was no eye to eye contact. He may not know immediately what the problem was. As he engaged her in conversation, she would eventually share her problem with him. When the issue was resolved, he always knew for sure. The face to face, eye to eye contact resumed.
When God's people turned away from the covenant with Him, the LORD said, "I will hide My face from them." Their sins of disobedience caused them to forfeit God's blessings. When they confessed their sins and turned to Him again, He was gracious to make His face shine upon them.

God desires to bless His people. The covenant blessings are made clear in the Bible. An expression for receiving those blessings is that God makes His face to shine upon us. "The LORD bless you and keep you. The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you. The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace" (Numbers 6:24-26). Aaron and his sons were the priests that spoke the blessing over the people.
How do we seek God's face of blessing today? The blessings of God are all for us through faith in Jesus Christ. "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ" (Ephesians 1:3). God desires to make His face shine upon us through Christ. Seeking God's face brings sure results by faith in Christ.
Father, make Your face to shine upon us through our Lord Jesus Christ.
