The Burdens of Life

"For each one shall bear his own load."

Galatians 6:5

Many years ago, a boy was riding on a train. Not finding the scenery interesting, he was bored and restless. A woman sitting nearby said, "Are you tired of this long trip?" The boy smiled and said, "I'm a little tired, but I don't mind it that much. You see, my father is going to meet me when I get there." He was not thinking about now but then. Life is like a journey. We may become bored or restless. We may find ourselves with heavy loads of care. The burdens of life can weigh us down. We need to know that we are on the right track, travelling in the right direction, with hope for what is to come.

God's children are not exempt from heavy loads that we call burdens. When that time comes in our lives, we need to remember two important truths. First, we never travel alone. Our heavenly Father always travels with us. The Holy Spirit is our constant companion. His grace is able to sustain us through the darkest night and the heaviest of burdens. We should never hesitate to ask for His help. Secondly, we should remember that God puts people in our lives to help share our burdens. Also, we have the privilege of helping others with their burdens. "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2).

Do you have a burden today? Don't forget to share it with God in prayer. Never hesitate to ask for His help. You may be surprised with joy in His grace sufficient. Also, be sensitive to anyone that He may bring into your life to encourage you and help bear your burden. If you don't have a burden today, thank God. Then, ask Him to use you to help someone else with the burdens of life. He will.

Father, give us grace to help with our burdens in Jesus name. Amen.
