Go to Heaven Singing

"And they sang a new song . . .
out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation."

Revelation 5:9-10

The author wrote a beautiful song about heaven. He said, "All my life, I have thought about death as being like a person at a party, who was suddenly taken away. Now, I know the real party is in heaven." When we read from the book of Revelation, we read about the real party in heaven. The song of heaven continues. People from every nation and race join the chorus. Hell has no song. No, the party is in heaven. Don't miss it. The hymn-writer wrote, "When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be. When we all see Jesus, we will sing and shout the victory!"

John, in his heavenly vision, saw heaven and heard the song. Chapters four and five of Revelation record his experience. In heaven, they sang a new song. In the Bible, when God did a new thing in the lives of His people, He gave them a new song. After Moses led the children of Israel through the Red Sea, as on dry ground, they sang a new song. They were free from Egypt's slavery. The redeemed of heaven sing a new song, because they are free from sin, suffering, sorrow and death. The former things have passed away and it's time to sing!

Heaven's song is about the Lamb. That is a symbolic reference to our Lord Jesus Christ. Like a lamb, He was sacrificed in our place and for our sins. The Old Testament imagery is fulfilled in the sacrifice for our sins, and for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2). Every believer may have the assurance that our sins are taken away at the cross of Christ. We have living proof, because He lives! Go to heaven singing the new song.

Father, our song on the way to heaven is Jesus.
