"No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly."
Psalm 84:11
The everlasting covenant of God with all believers is to do us good. "And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts, so that they will not depart from Me" (Jeremiah 32:40). What a great promise for each and every one of God's believing children. God can easily make promise of good, because He is always good. God can easily make it an everlasting promise, because He is the everlasting God.
But, wait a minute. What about the bad things that happen to believers? We are not here to deny that bad things really do happen to God's children. We don't blame Him for any evil that comes our way. Others may have evil intentions and pursue bad things on our lives. We may even suffer for the bad choices that we make in life. God may even allow us to suffer for a redemptive purpose.
God is always working all things together for our good, to those who love Him, according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). We have yet to read the last chapter of our lives. God looks at life through the long-term. The short-term may be dismal and seemingly hopeless, but wait and believe God's promise to do us good.
Most of us know the old hymn, "Amazing Grace." But, there is a verse not found in all the hymnals. "Amazing Grace" includes this stanza as well: "The Lord has promised good to me, His word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be, as long as life endures."
God, we believe Your goodness is at work in our lives through all things.
