Renew Your Strength

"Those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles."

Isaiah 40:31

Our strength for living comes from the LORD. At times we become weak and weary. That means it's time to simply wait in the presence of the LORD. A woman was deficient of vitamin D. Her medical doctor told her how important vitamin D was to her well-being. He prescribed vitamin tablets, as well as sun-bathing. We know that the sun provides a source of vitamin D for our bodies. Anyone, anywhere, can bathe in the presence of the sun. Likewise, anyone, anywhere, can by faith bathe in the presence of God to soak in His love, grace and strength.

The psalmist understood the lesson of nature from the eagle. When there was sickness in the eagle's body, the eagle spread its wings on the rocks under the sun. The rays of the sun had a way of removing toxins from the body. The eagle's strength was renewed. It was a matter of waiting in the sunshine. The sunshine of God's love purifies us from sin and restores our strength. He enables us to fulfill our purpose. Waiting in God's presence is not time wasted. It is strength renewed.

Waiting upon the LORD includes meditating in His Word, the Bible. Not just reading quickly through a few verses, but we think and meditate upon His truth for our lives. He speaks to us through His Word. He guides our lives and establishes our thoughts. He gives us solutions for life's problems. Yes, He renews our strength.

LORD, renew our strength.
