Confusion Warns Us

"For where envy and self-seeking exist,
confusion and every evil thing are there."

James 3:16

It was her senior year in high school. She was still undecided about where to go to college. She had considered several schools. In frustration, she said to her mother, "I just don't know what to do. All my friends know where they want to go to college. I'm so confused." Her mother said, "Confusion is a warning sign. Maybe there is a school that you haven't considered that would be just the right one for you." She and her mother did pray about it. A few weeks later, she had her decision. It was a school that she had not considered earlier.

When we seek God's wisdom in our decisions, He gives us wise counsel in ways that we may not anticipate. His counsel brings peace. Confusion is indeed a warning sign. God is not the author of confusion, but peace. Wisdom and peace always accompany each other. Without wisdom, we cannot find peace. Without peace, we have not received God's wisdom. "But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable" (James 3:17). God's Spirit brings peace to our hearts. Peace is a fruit of the Holy Spirit working within us (Galatians 5:22).

Are you facing an important decision? God's wisdom is available for all who believe (James 1:5-6). Wisdom is only a prayer away. When God's wise counsel comes to you, it always brings the fruit of peace. Confusion warns us that we don't have the wisdom of God.

Our knowledge is limited in making decisions. God's knowledge is unlimited. His wisdom is our greatest resource in making the decision's of life. Confusion says, "You have not made the right decision." Peace says, "You have the wisdom of God."

Father, we seek to follow the way of peace.
