God's Promises

"Nor is there any who can deliver from My hand.
For I raise My hand to heaven, and say, 'As I live forever . . ."

Deuteronomy 32:39-40

In Bible days, when men made a covenant between themselves, they raised the right hand to heaven, inviting God to be the witness of their vows and promises. God is pictured as being like such a man, raising His hand to make a promised vow. He enters into a covenant relationship with all believers.

His word is His bond. We can trust His every promise, as we read approximately three thousand promises in the Bible. We are standing on the promises that cannot fail, because God has raised His hand to every covenant vow.

Man often makes promises that he cannot fulfill simply because death may cancel many honest and good promises. Not so with God. He says, "I live forever." There is no promise that death can cancel with God, because He is the everlasting LORD of the covenant. The promises that He made centuries ago are as good today as when they were first announced to the patriarchs, prophets and apostles. Not one word shall fail Him. He has lifted His hand. The everlasting God has promised.

Jesus delivered many promises from God the Father. The best known promise of all is recorded in John 3:16. He promises everlasting life to all who believe on the only begotten Son. That promise was secured before heaven in the nail-scared hands of Jesus. You may trust the promise and believe the vow. Eternal life is the promise sure and secure in God's hand, and no one can pluck us out of the Father's hand (John 10:28).

Father, we believe all of Your covenant promises.
