See God's Glory

"Jesus said to her, 'Did I not say to you that if you would believe,
you would see the glory of God?"

John 11:40

The national news carried the story of a well-known scientist who concluded that God did not make the earth. Does that mean that one scientist, or many for that matter, have settled the debate? No, it proves that unbelief will not see the glory of God. Jesus promised Martha that if she believed, then she would see the glory of God. Then, Jesus called her brother back from death. Lazarus came forward from the tomb at the command of Jesus. God gave believers a preview of our resurrection to the glory of God. However, unbelief is spiritually blind to the glory of God.

The heavens and earth declare the glory of God to those who believe. To those who believe not, the earth is a cosmic accident which they try to explain with one theory or another.

The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the glory of God in the gospel to all who believe. To those who believe not, it's absolute foolishness, ancient mythology and nonsense.

The sin of unbelief robs man of the experience of God's glory. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Only those who repent and believe may see the glory of God.

Man searches to find God through academic pursuits and philosophy. Each investigation ends in vain. The natural man cannot find God through his mind and human wisdom. "For since, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe" (1 Corinthians 1:21). God must reveal Himself to us, that by faith we are enabled through grace to see the glory of God.

Lord, open our eyes to see Your glory.
