"For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD,
'plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11
The prophet Jeremiah delivered God's word to people in exile. God had plans for his people. He was planning to restore them in their relationship to him. God has a plan for all of his people. He plans for all of us to live in a personal relationship with him. To know him as LORD means that we are in a covenant relationship with him. Marriage is a covenant relationship. It illustrates the type of personal relationship God wants with his people. It is a relationship of love.
God has a plan for his people which is good and not evil. That does not mean we will not encounter evil in this world. We will, but God is able to bring good out of all things for his children. "And we know for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose," Romans 8:28.
God's plan for his children includes a future with hope. He already knows the plans for our future. Therefore, our hope is in the LORD. We need not be curious about the details of his plan for our future. Let us hope in him and enjoy the journey. He will lead us in the right path for his name's sake. His goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives (Psalm 23).
Father, may Your plans be fulfilled in our lives.
