"Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard,
neither has entered into the heart of man,
the things which God has prepared for them that love Him."
1 Corinthians 2:9
It was a special night for the couple on a date, but she didn't know it. You see, it was the night that he had prepared to ask her to marry him. He had a beautiful diamond ring in his pocket. He knew what was about to happen, but she didn't. What a surprise it was. She was speechless, looking at the ring on her finger. She had tears of joy. She had a ring, but far more than that, she had his heart. They were really in love. Our relationship with God is like unto a romance. His love pursues us. We love Him, because He first loved us. Our relationship with God is built on faith, hope and love. The greatest of these is love (1 Cor. 13:13).
For those who love God, He has revealed to us through the Bible the things that He has prepared for us. "For God has revealed them to us through His Spirit" (1 Cor. 2:10). Those outside of faith in Christ cannot believe what God has prepared for us. "But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to Him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Cor. 2:14). For the believer, the Spirit of God has revealed these things to us through the Bible. It's like the young lady seeing the ring for the first time. Love shows us our future filled with faith and love.
"Those who love God" are the words which describe our relationship with God. We have responded to His great love for us through Christ. That love is proven not with a ring but a cross (Romans 5:8). "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son . . ." (John 3:16). He loves you. Do you love Him?
Father, fill our hearts with love that we may be filled with love for You.
