God Leads Us

"The path of the just is as the shining light,
that shines more and more unto the perfect day."

Proverbs 4:18

Two boys were hiking through the woods. At a certain point, they became frantic, because they knew that they were lost. They were tired and sat down on the path. They were confused as to what to do. It was getting dark and they were afraid. They began to hear noise to alert them that something was approaching. Was it a wild animal? Could it be danger? No. It was their dad. He had lagged behind, following them to make sure that they were safe. Never had they been so happy to see their father. He showed them the right path. Our heavenly Father is like that. He realizes that we always tend to go astray in life, but He seeks us. He leads us on the right path.

How can we know that we are on the right path in life? The right path always provides God's light. Darkness is dispelled in the presence of light. Darkness can bring confusion, fear and lost confidence. Light brings clarity, vision and direction. God's word is still a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. The Bible gives us the instruction, wisdom and guidance of God. Understanding comes to the believer who walks in the light of God's word. We can find our way with confidence, that we are on the right path.

Are you on the right path? God's peace is our guide on the path of life to bring assurance (Colossians 3:15). If there is doubt or uncertainty, look to God's word for light. Ask God to give you understanding. The psalmist David wrote the Shepherd's Psalm (Psalm 23). The LORD our Shepherd leads us in the right path. On that path, His goodness and mercy follows us all the days of our lives.

Good Shepherd, lead us in the right path.
