God is Good

To know God in a personal relationship is to know His goodness in covenant. A covenant includes vows and oaths. It's like a marriage relationship, when the bride and groom say their vows to each other. God makes binding promises to His people, based upon a covenant oath.

God's covenant name is LORD. In His name, believers receive all of His covenant promises. The Son of God was given the name JESUS, which means "the LORD saves." The good news is that all the covenant promises are ours in the name of JESUS. "For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God" (2 Corinthians 1:20).

The promises of God for His people are based upon His everlasting vow. "And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good" (Jeremiah 32:40). Believers can be secure in God's goodness. God is good, and He delights in showing His goodness to all of His people.

God's goodness is promised to work in the lives of His people. "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28). God promises those who love Him, that He is always working for their good.
