His grandson was almost grown. He was a senior in high school. He said to him, "You look like a man. You've grown to be a handsome man. Have you grown in your faith?" The grandson said, "I'm glad that you asked that question. I really do want to grow in my faith, but I'm not sure that I know how." Granddad responded, "Son, feed on the word of God, if you want to grow in your faith. As you read the Bible and understand it, your faith will grow." Granddad spoke the truth. As a believer, you grow in your faith as you feed on the milk and meat of God's word in the Bible.
There is a correlation between feeding on the word of God and growing in your faith. "Desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby" (1 Peter 2:2). The diet for your faith is God's word. Without feeding on the truth of Scripture, you become weak and anemic in your faith.
The very desire to hear, read, and understand the word of God is a good sign that you have been born again. You become a babe in Christ through conversion. You need to be fed milk. Feeding on the milk of the word helps you to grow and receive the meat of God's word. Your faith develops and becomes stronger day by day.
Growing in your faith gives understanding in God's purpose for your life. It brings forth an effective prayer life. Growing faith gives the assurance of your salvation. Your growing faith brings you to spiritual maturity.
