Who Do You Trust?

Who do you trust? Common answers may include parents, spouse, other family members and friends. The circle of people we trust could be few. All relationships are built on trust. We may know many people and have few genuine relationships. You cannot have a true relationship with anyone you cannot trust.

Do you trust God? If not, you cannot say that you have a personal relationship with God. Trusting God means that you have a real relationship with the living God. As that relationship grows, you trust Him more. Trust is built upon the Word of His promise and your personal experience.

Trusting God means that you have confidence in Him, even when you don't understand what's happening in your life. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5). God knows and understands all things. We don't. Therefore, the real test comes in our relationship with Him, when we don't understand.

Our situations in life may quickly change, leaving us many questions unanswered. This means experiences of the past can take us just so far. There is one thing that can take us all the way with God. That's trusting the Word of His promise. "Lean not on your own understanding." Lean on God's Word. It changes not. What He has promised, He will fulfill. What He has said, He will do. "Forever, O LORD, Your Word is settled in heaven" (Psalm 119:89). You may always trust God, if you take Him at His Word.
