Broken Hearts

Broken hearts know disappointment, sorrow, hopelessness, and depression. Have you ever had a broken heart? If so, you know the pain of despair. No one can say he is exempt from a broken heart. You find people who are heart broken among the rich and poor, famous and anonymous.

Those with a broken heart need a friend who cares and understands. A compassionate friend is worth more than anything money can afford. Someone is needed who will simply listen. Painful feelings need to be expressed. The weight of a broken heart is heavy, a burden hard to bear. A close friend can sometime make the load somewhat lighter. "A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need" (Proverbs 7:17, NLT).

A broken heart has many deep emotions. They may include anger, rage, depression, and bitterness. A broken heart may become toxic to a person's physical health. Those emotions need to be expressed. A trusted friend will listen with love and patience.

There is One who can heal broken heart. He heals with love and grace, peace and gentleness. God our Father heals the heart of his children. God's Spirit brings grace sufficient for the need. His love moves in the hearts of people with peace and gentleness. "For we know how God dearly loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love" (Romans 5:5, NLT). Ask God to fill your heart with love.
