Understand Love

The word love is both a verb and a noun. As long as it's only a noun in your life, you cannot really experience it. When love becomes a verb, the experience is real. Love must be expressed and received. Love must speak and act to be known. Make love a verb in your life. When you understand love, you understand God. "God is love" (1 John 4:8).

God's love is both a verb and a noun in the Bible. For us to experience God's love, it must be a verb. God communicates His love to us. He proves His love for us. He gives His love to us. In the Bible, God communicates His love for all of us. At the cross of Jesus, God proves His love for us. Through the Holy Spirit, God gives His love to us. We are able to understand His love in our hearts.

You understand love when you experience God. Reading about love is never enough. Without experience, singing about God's love is only empty words. Hearing a minister talk about God's love is only information, unless we experience it. God's love is known personally only through experience.

Understand God's love to share it with others. God desires to love others through you. God's Spirit works through you to show His love for others. So many will not read a Bible, but they will read your life. What you say and do is important. Others can understand love through you. "But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love has been brought to full expression through us" (1 John 4:12, NLT).
