When the Snow Falls

When the snow falls, everything changes. The snow covers all things. The environment becomes a new place. So the snow falls silently bringing peace all around it. Listen to the silent message of the snow fall. God often moves silently bringing peace. He changes lives that way. He covers all of our sins. God says to us, "though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow" (Isaiah 1:18).

Children play in the snow with joy. The snow may cause some adults to fear and fret, but not the children. The snow brings them much joy. God's grace brings much joy to those who know God has forgiven them. "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered" (Psalm 32:1).

The snow white speaks of God's purity. He is holy. God alone can make us holy. As the snow falls from above, so the righteousness of God comes to us as a gift from above. Our sins as scarlet become white as snow. Our sins are gone as God purifies us from above. "They shall be as white as snow."

After the snow falls, then comes the sun to melt it away, enriching the soil to prepare for a season yet to come. So God purifies a people that the light of His Son may bring new life. There is coming a day when God will make all things new. In that day, "if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
