Don't Lose Control

When you lose self-control, your life is out of control. That gives fear, doubt, greed, jealousy, addiction, or many other forces opportunity to take control of your life. A life out of control is like a moving car without a driver. Bad things are ahead. Don't lose control.

Self-control is not selfish. Far from it. God wants you to take control of your life. He made you to have self-control. A life out of control can only find self-control through God's Spirit in Christ.

A life out of control brings uncertainty, fear, and confusion. The sense of direction is lost. The goal of life is missing, leading to boredom, loss of purpose, and misery. It becomes a life of wasted years.

Calling on the Lord is the way to self-control. The fruit of the Holy Spirit working in your life is self-control. "The fruit of the Spirit is . . . self-control" (Galatians 5:22-23). Self-control comes from yielding to the Holy Spirit in your life. God's Spirit will lead you to discover self-control. Don't lose self-control. Surrender to God's Spirit and find self-control.
