Look at God's Love

What do you think when you see Christ crucified? Some may see a man dying for no good purpose. Others may have no opinion of Christ crucified. When a believer thinks of Christ hanging and suffering on the cross, he sees love dying for sinners. It is love so amazing, so divine. "But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners" (Romans 5:8, NLT).

How much does Jesus Christ love sinners? See His arms spread wide and nailed to the cross. He held nothing back. Love paid the supreme price for sinners. He died in our place and for our sins. Love paid the full price of the sinner's debt to God's justice. See God's love and wrath meet at the cross of Jesus. Love suffered the full penalty. Greater love than this can never be found anywhere else but at the cross of Jesus.

Love never fails. Three days after love in Christ was crucified, the Spirit of God's love raised Him from the dead. Love took away all of our sins and defeated death. Love's power conquered man's evil. It is love divine all love's excelling, God's love for sinners like you and me.

Still today, so many only see a man dying a meaningless death when they hear of Christ crucified. Not so with the believer. We see how much God loves us while we were yet sinners. What makes the difference? Simply this, God's love flows from the cross to our hearts. "For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love" (Romans 5:5, NLT).
