Be Kind to Others

Being kind to others won't cost you anything, but sooner or later, it will pay rich dividends in your relationships. It is not always easy to be kind. Many people may see it as a sign of weakness. That's not so. It's a sign of spiritual strength and power. It's a fruit of the Holy Spirit working through your life. "But the fruit of the Spirit is . . . kindness" (Galatians 5:22).

You could say, "It's just not my nature to be kind." You're right. Outside of the Holy Spirit working through us, it's not anyone's nature to be kind. However, the fruit of God's Spirit working in us produces kindness. Let God use you. Yield to the Holy Spirit. "And be kind one to another" (Ephesians 4:32). Let kindness work for you today.

Pray and yield to the Holy Spirit to work the fruit of kindness in your life. Receive grace from God to be kind to others through Jesus Christ. You may regret being rude and unkind to others, but you will never need to apologize for being kind.

Consider your memories of being unkind to others. Ask God to forgive you and give you the kindness of Christ for them. Consider memories of others who have been unkind to you. Ask God to forgive them and be kind to them through the Spirit of Christ. Be kind to others.
