Many people are not aware that God works in us. God is not only at work all around you, but He also works within you. God the Holy Spirit works in you before you receive Christ, to convince you of your need for the Savior. You would not come to Christ without God's power working in you. "Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us" (Ephesians 3:20).
After you receive Christ by faith, the Spirit of God continues to work in you to grow in your faith. He gives you understanding from the Bible. He gives you strength and ability to serve Christ. You are totally dependent upon God working in you.
You may think that God is not working in your life. After all, you don't feel God's power nor do you have mystical experiences. However, God is working in you even when you don't ask or think He is. As a believer in Christ, "it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure" (Philippians 2:13).
Maybe you haven't asked God to work in you. Maybe you don't even think that He is, but according to the Bible He is. He works in your heart, that is your mind, will, and emotions. He's doing more in you than you could ever ask or think. Remember today, God is at work in you.
