Christmas is for you. That's not a selfish thought. Far from it, that's God's thought. Jesus was born for you. Not only was He born for you, but also for the whole world. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son . . ." (John 3:16). Jesus is God's gift to you.
A gift can be given, but it also must be received. God gave His Son for you, but He must be received. God's Son is received by faith. Believing is receiving. Those who receive not, reject the very gift of God. "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12).
For you, "the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Eternal life comes from the eternal God through Christ. It is life full of love and joy. Eternal life is victory over death through the resurrection of Christ. It is to know God's eternal love. Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ.
Christmas is for you, because God sent His Son for you. "But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons" (Galatians 4:4-5). By faith in Jesus Christ, God adopts you into His family. Be glad now and forever that Christmas is for you.
