Peace and Joy

The man was considered very successful, yet he said to his best friend, "I would give everything, if I could have peace and joy. If you could buy it, no price would be too much." Peace and joy are not for sale. No amount of money can buy them.

How then may we have a life of peace and joy? It comes only from a relationship with God. The kingdom of God brings "peace and joy in the Holy Spirit" (Romans 14:17). The world cannot give you peace and joy. It's all about a personal relationship with God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. The kingdom of God is the will of God. When we submit our lives to God's rule under Jesus our Lord, peace and joy are discovered.

Even when a believer goes astray, the peace and joy are lost temporarily. When we confess our sins and submit ourselves to God's will, the peace and joy return. David is an example in the Old Testament. He strayed from God's will. Yet, he repented and cried out to God, "Restore to me the joy of your salvation" (Psalm 51:12).

Losing peace and joy is a sign that we are on the wrong road. We have detoured from the right way. That peace and joy can be restored. When our relationship is made right with God, peace and joy are witnesses. Peace and joy are for all God's children.
