Don't Be Confused

So, she said to her husband, "I'm so confused. I don't know what to do." He said, "Do nothing until you deal with confusion." He gave her good advice. When we are confused, it's better to do nothing, until confusion is resolved. Confusion is like a red light at a train crossing. We need to stop, look, and listen.

When confused, we need to look and listen to God's word. The Bible makes it clear that confusion is a spiritual issue. Stop until confusion is resolved. "For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace" (1 Corinthians 14:33). Confusion tells us clearly that we are not following God's way. It is a warning. God's way is peace.

Peace and confusion never travel together. Peace is evidence that God is at work in our lives. Peace is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. To the contrary, confusion tells us that we have missed God's way. When we see confusion in our lives, families, churches, and society, it is for sure that we have missed God's way. "Let the peace of God rule in your hearts" (Colossians 3:15).

Peace always works with wisdom. God's wisdom brings peace. Ask God for wisdom, when you are confused. Wisdom is a gift of God to all who ask and believe. Confusion is dismissed by wisdom. "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him" (James 1:5).
