When You Trust God

When you trust God, you are not depending on your own understanding. So many people simply cannot trust God, because they only depend upon what they understand. Our understanding is so limited, but what God can do in our lives extends far beyond our own understanding. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not lean on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5, NLT).

What is it to trust in the LORD? It means you rely upon him, depend upon him, and you put faith in him. You can do that when you really believe that God is always trustworthy. He will never lead you into error, nor direct you down the wrong path. "Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:6, NLT).

When you trust God, you trust his word. The Bible is God's word written for all who trust him. It is God's covenant word. He promises with an oath to perform his word in your life. LORD is God's covenant name. It's his personal name. He wants a personal relationship with you day by day, as you walk with him in his word. Believe his promises. Trust his word.

When you trust God, you trust his providence in your life. He works in the details of your life. His providence is guiding you, when you understand and when you don't understand. He has a plan for your life. He leads you as a shepherd leads his sheep, "and he will direct your paths."
