Three abiding gifts of the Holy Spirit are found in the lives of all true Christians. The gifts of faith, hope and love are found in all who are born of the Spirit. Christians have the love of Christ in their hearts. They have hope for the future in Christ. Every true Christian has the gift of abiding faith in Christ.
You can never separate faith, hope and love. These triplets are never separated. If you have one, the other two must be there also. "And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love" (1 Corinthians 13:13). Please notice that love is the greatest gift. Love is always the greatest, because "God is love" (1 John 4:8).
Therefore, the Christian life is described in three words: faith, hope and love. Faith and hope always come with love. God's love will always give you the faith and hope you need for every trial and test. You need not ask to be filled with faith and hope. No! Never! Ask God to fill you with love. If you are filled with love, you will likewise be filled with faith and hope.
Those who want great faith need great love. Those who want steadfast hope only need to yield to more of God's love. Ask God to fill you with His love. That's the Spirit-filled life, "to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God" (Ephesians 3:19). Be filled with love to be filled with faith and hope.
