No one is exempt from grief and sorrow in this life. In the midst of happy days, sorrow can strike suddenly. Grief may come without warning. It is never a welcomed guest. Times of grief can be overwhelming. In the times of grief, we need hope.
Hope is a friend that can sustain you during times of grief. Hope looks beyond the present sorrow. It focuses upon a better day. Hope gives strength to get through sorrow. True hope is found only in God. He is our hope, steadfast and sure. Hope sustains your faith. Hope leads us to love. And now abide faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:13).
Hope is the gift of God's presence in your life. You cannot know God, without knowing hope. You can find hope in God, because He is your future. You can believe that future is good, because God is good. You can know that hope is trustworthy, because God is faithful.
Hope is eternal, because God is eternal. He offers you eternal life through His Son. Christ the Lord is risen from the dead. Eternal life is God's gift to you in Christ. Our hope in God through Christ is known in the Bible as the blessed hope. The grief that faces death gives way to hope in Jesus Christ, in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began (Titus 1:2).
