When we are angry, we may say or do things that we would not do otherwise. Anger stirs the emotions to take control of the mind. Anger entices us to act without thinking clearly. Letting anger control could lead us to violence, revenge, or bitterness. When anger controls, we are tempted to act rashly without thinking about the consequences.
When anger controls our emotions, we lose self-control. Anger is never our friend. Remember, anger wants to control us. When we lose self-control, bad things can happen fast. And don't sin by letting anger gain control over you (Ephesians 4:26, NLT).
When we are angry stop and think. Acting without thinking can multiply our problems. Saying words that we should not, can bring damage to important relationships. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander (Ephesians 4:31, NLT). Once those words are spoken, they cannot be taken back. We must stop and think before we speak.
When we are angry, someone may have hurt us in word or deed. We become vulnerable to angry emotions. Unresolved anger leads to bitterness. It becomes toxic to the mind and endangers our health. Choose to forgive, by forgiving one another just as God through Christ has forgiven you (Ephesians 4:32, NLT).
