Love Your Enemies

Jesus teaches us to love our enemies. That wasn't a very popular message when He preached it centuries ago. Today, it's still not a popular message. Jesus not only preached the message, He lived the message. Most of all, He died for that message. Jesus prayed forgiveness for those who crucified Him. Jesus died to prove God's love for the world.

Do you love your enemies? You may think it's too hard. It's more than hard. It's impossible, unless the love of Christ works in our hearts. The world teaches us to love our friends and hate our enemies. Jesus loved His enemies, and you can only do the same through His power.

When God changes your life, the love of Christ fills your heart through the Holy Spirit. It is nothing short of a miracle of God's grace. As a result, you are enabled to love God and others, even your enemies. True religion has no place for hatred, because God is love.

Jesus teaches that others will know that you follow Him, because of your love. Do you have that love? Only God can work that kind of love in your heart. It is love that the world cannot understand. It is love that will change your heart. God wants to love others through you, even your enemies.

Jesus said, "But if you are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies.
Do good to those who hate you."

Luke 6:37, NLT
