Fellowship with God

Her teenage son said, "The pastor was preaching about walking with God. What does that mean? How can we walk with God when we can't even see Him?" She said, "Son, you're right. We can't see God because He is Spirit. But, we can walk with God every day. We walk with God through our hearts. He works on the inside of us."

When you enter a covenant relationship with God, He changes your heart to live in fellowship with Him. You are enabled to trust Him and the covenant promises of the Bible. "For we walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7). It's a personal faith relationship based upon the sure promises of God our covenant-keeper.

Fellowship with God is communion and communication. Your heart becomes the place of communion with God. He communicates with you through His word of promise found in the Bible, and we communicate with Him in prayer. "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me" (Psalm 51:10). The reality of knowing God takes place when He changes our hearts.

God says, "I will give you a new heart and a new spirit within you" (Ezekiel 36:26). The heart is the inner-man, that is the mind, will, emotions, and conscience. It is a change that only God can make in you. God can change anyone's heart, and when He does, you can know God in a personal relationship.
