Battles in Your Life

"Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered;
let those who hate Him flee before Him."

Psalm 68:1

A woman said to her friend, "Sometime my life seems like one battle after another. Why does it have to be this way? I pray that God will take away my problems, but that doesn't seem to work." Her friend said, "All of us have battles to fight in this life, and God may not spare us the conflict, but He is able to give us victory through them. Maybe we shouldn't ask Him to spare us the conflict but show us His power through it all."

Psalm 68 is attributed to the pen of the psalmist David. It was written to be sung after the army of Israel was victorious over their enemies. The celebration brought singing God's praise. David understood that defeat awaits unless God arises. He knew that military victory required God's help. No part of life was exempt from a spiritual dimension. They could fight their battles facing sure defeat without God arising to scatter the enemies.

There is practical application for believers today. God could take away all of our conflicts in life, but He may choose to show us His power through victory in our battles. Conflict is a part of life that God does not cause, but He can use it to show us His victory. Are you facing any battles in your life? Pray that God will arise, that He will move in the situation for the praise of His glory.

Prayer: God, you know the battles that we face in life. We ask You to arise to bring glory to Your name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
