Sing to God

"Sing to God, sing praises to His name."

Psalm 68:4

During a Sunday worship service, the children's choir sang. Of course, they weren't anything like professional musicians. They even missed a few notes, but nobody really cared, because they enjoyed hearing them sing so much. When they finished, the pastor said, "We all enjoyed hearing the children sing today, but just think how much more God enjoyed hearing them sing His praise. They were singing to Him, straight from their hearts."

Worship includes singing, not just singing about God, but singing to God. We need not be professional singers to please God. He wants us to sing to Him from our hearts. The Psalms composed the Hebrew hymn book. They were written for God's people to sing praise to Him. The words were written to provide God's children with a way to express their heart-felt adoration to Him. Worship includes celebrating the greatness, glory and goodness of God in song.

Don't wait for the next church service to sing to God. Sing to Him today. Celebrate what He has done in your life through singing His praise. You may say, "Surely you don't mean me. I can't sing very well." Oh, please don't misunderstand. It's not about how well we sing. It's Who we are singing to. Sing to God. He may even bring a familiar song or hymn to your mind today. He wants you to sing to Him. Yes, sing to God.

Prayer: God, we offer our songs and hymns to You as worship and praise. Put a song on our heart today, in Jesus name. Amen.
