Choices in Life

"Moses . . . choosing rather to suffer
affliction with the people of God."

Hebrews 11:24-25

His teenage son was near graduation from high school. He needed to make many decisions about his life and future. He was feeling the pressure. He wanted to make the right decisions. He said to his dad, "Life has many choices and sometime it's not easy to know which one to make." His dad said, "You're right. Life is one choice after another. Sometime the choice is hard to make. That's because the best choice may not be the easy way out."

Moses made a hard choice. He could have remained as the adopted son of Pharaoh's daughter, but he chose the hard path, to suffer with God's people. He made his choice by faith in God. Therefore, he's listed as one of the heroes of faith in the Bible. Had he made the easy choice of pleasure, we would have not known his name. Because he chose God's way, he became one of the greatest leaders in history. He saw God set a nation free from slavery through his leadership. His choice not only effected his life, but the lives of two nations and generations to come.

You have choices to make. Remember, the right choice is not always the easy one. The right choice may be hard, and could even involve suffering affliction. Our choices often affect the lives of other people, and perhaps for generations to come. If we only think about ourselves, the easy way becomes most tempting. In choosing our way in life, consider God's will first. Walk by faith in God with the choices of your life.

Prayer: God, we choose to follow You in all the choices of life, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
