Eternal Pleasure

"You will fill me with joy in Your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand."

Psalm 16:11

A man was leaving the church worship service with his wife. He said to her, "While we were singing that praise chorus, I suddenly became so aware of God's presence." She asked, "How were you so aware of God's presence?" He responded, "God's joy filled my heart as we sang His praise. It was a pleasure to worship God."

God is everywhere, yet we are often unaware of His presence. During times of worship, as we sing and praise Him, we are focused upon God. He reveals His presence to us, and joy is one way that He does so. Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit moving within us (Galatians 5:22).

Many have yet to learn that there is spiritual pleasure in worshiping God. Heaven is a place of everlasting worship and praise to God. It may be defined as the place of eternal pleasure for God's children, in His presence through the one at His right hand, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Let God fill your life with joy. The psalmist knew the joy of the Lord as he sang God's praise. The book of Psalms is the hymnbook of ancient Israel. Unfortunately, many people may have the idea that worship is formal and only a duty or ritual. Quite the contrary, we see true worship in the Bible. It is the way to enjoy the pleasures of God. It is eternal pleasure.

Prayer: God, teach us to worship in Your presence. We seek to worship You with eternal pleasure, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
