Your Thoughts Matter

"Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established."

Proverbs 16:3

A pastor said to another pastor, "Every morning I fill my mind with God's thoughts. Those thoughts come back to me throughout the day and give me wisdom." The other pastor asked, "How do you receive God's thoughts?" His friend responded, "Surely you know. I read the Bible every morning, and I always include a selection from the book of Proverbs. That book has God's wisdom for life." The pastor knew the source of God's wisdom that is always found in the Bible. As we program our minds with the wisdom of God, His thoughts give us direction in life.

God wants to lead us from day to day with His wisdom. That wisdom is available for all. Proverbs assures us that God will lead us. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6). God has many ways of leading us. He does establish our thoughts, that we may know His will. Those words that we read from the Bible are brought to our remembrance in the time of decision. We are given confidence and assurance of God's will for our lives.

Are you seeking God's guidance for your life? It's available for you. He wants to speak to your heart through His Word. Read the Bible to know and understand God's will. Apply it to your life. Ask God to establish your thoughts based on the truth of Scripture. God's Word sets us free from doubt, indecision, fear and confusion. Jesus said, "If you abide in my word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:31-32). Think God's thoughts.

Prayer: Father, we need Your words of wisdom and truth. Establish our thoughts as we commit our works unto You, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
