Knowing God

"For with the heart one believes unto righteousness."

Romans 10:10

Someone has said, "You cannot think your way to God, or use wisdom alone. You must use your heart." The world by wisdom cannot know God. Worldly wisdom is a collection of the thoughts of sinful men. We simply cannot think our way to God. The Bible teaches that "with the heart one believes unto righteousness." God is our righteousness through our Lord Jesus Christ. Only through the heart can we come to know God.

A teenage boy asked his mother a serious question. "Mother, how will I know when I find the one that I am supposed to marry?"  She smiled and said, "Oh, Son, don't you worry about that. You will know that she is the one in your heart." Years later, that same young man married the woman who was the love of his heart. The way to God is sure. It's about the heart. Our hearts are touched by His love for us, and we love Him because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).

Have you found the way to God? It's not so much about us finding God, but it's the way He finds us. His love reaches out to us at the cross of Jesus (Romans 5:8). We really don't understand, until the Holy Spirit touches our hearts with love divine (Romans 5:5). As we receive His great love for us, the way to God is known in our hearts. We begin a love relationship with the One who is love (1 John 4:8). It's always about the heart. That's the way to know God.

Prayer: Father, we love You, because You first loved us. We receive the love of Your Spirit in our hearts, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
