"There is therefore now no condemnation
to those who are in Christ Jesus."
Romans 8:1
A man and his wife were on a sea cruise. One morning he looked out the portal window of his room to see dark clouds. They decided to order breakfast in the room. When the food arrived, he said to the steward, "Looks like we are in for a bad storm." The steward replied, "Oh, those clouds are behind us. There's clear sailing ahead." For the believer in Christ Jesus, the condemnation of our sin is behind us. The record in the court of heaven is clear today.
The apostle Paul declared for all who have faith in Christ Jesus, there is no condemnation. If we are tempted to look at the sins of our past, we must remember that they are behind us. God has something far better for us. We have received His mercy at the cross of Jesus. He has taken away all of our sins (1 John 1:7). Any condemnation that we may experience is only a failure to remember that it is behind us. Sure, we may choose to look back, but it's far better to look to the cross of Christ, and remember our record is clear today.
Do you have a past sin that allows guilt to attack you? That is a common experience of so many believers in Christ. It is simply because we are looking in the wrong direction. Guilt says, "You know that you committed that sin in your past." The Bible says, "There is therfore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus." We have a choice to believe guilt, or to believe God's promise in Christ. Faith receives freedom from condemnation.
Prayer: Father, we rejoice in freedom from all condemnation through the cross of Jesus. We receive our freedom according to the promise in Christ Jesus. Amen.
