God Is For Us

"If God is for us, who can be against us?"

Romans 8:31

A Christian shared the burden of her heart with another woman. She said, "Sometime I wonder if God is really for me. I've had health issues, financial problems and marital difficulty. It just seems like everything has gone wrong. Do you think God is working against me?"  Her friend asked, "Would you ever turn against your children, even if they had done wrong? I know you wouldn't. God never promised us that we wouldn't have problems, but through it all, He is for us."

The apostle Paul wrote to God's children in Romans 8. He considered every kind of bad thing that could happen to us in life. Yet, he asked the question, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" In the same chapter, he assures believers that God is working all things together for good to those who love Him (Romans 8:28). No matter what the believer's circumstances in life may be, God is for us.

Have you ever wondered if God is really for you? As His child, your heavenly Father is working for good in your life. He has called us to Christ. He is working in our lives to conform us to the likeness of Jesus Christ. What we consider to be bad in our lives now, He is working together for our good. If we only believe what we see and feel now, we may be tempted to believe that God has forsaken us. We have a choice to believe our present circumstances or to believe God. He is for us.

Prayer: Father, no matter what happens, we choose to believe You. We believe that You are for us through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
