Galatians 6:5
The voice of immaturity says,"It's not my fault. I'm not responsible for my actions. It's my spouse's fault, my parent's fault, my employer's fault or even God's fault, but it could never be my fault." No one else can take responsibility for our actions. When we are overtaken in a fault, we must take responsibility and correct it. Confessing our faults, correcting our wrongdoing and receiving God's grace will change our lives. Blaming everyone else for our faults is simply an excuse not to change our lives.
When we accept responsibility for our lives, we understand that we are accountable for our decisions and choices in life. Those choices have consequences. We need to think how a decision will effect ourselves and others. If we think that we can make decisions that will not have consequences, then we are deceiving ourselves. "Do not be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap" (Galatians 6:7).
When we make bad choices, we can take responsibility to correct them. First of all, we can confess our faults to God and He will forgive us (1 John 1:9). Secondly, we can ask forgiveness of others. Also, we can find people who will help us, support us, and pray with us, as we are restored (Galatians 6:1). The road to recovery begins with accepting responsibility. It's the first step to making real change in our lives.
Father, we accept responsibility for our actions. Change our lives by Your grace and for Your glory, through Jesus Christ.
