"Then Peter said, 'Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give to you.
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."
Acts 3:6
My uncle was an engineer on the railroad. One day he took my cousin and me on the diesel engine. He asked me to push a certain botton. I was reluctant to do so. Then, he asked my cousin to push the botton. Immediately, there was a noise as the diesel engine started. That one botton was the key to releasing the power of the engine. Many people would like to find the key to experiencing God's power in their lives. It is no secret. The Bible reveals the truth. The power of God may be found in the person of Jesus Christ.
The apostle Peter was asked by a beggar for a donation. He had no gold nor silver. He did have something far greater, the power of God in Jesus Christ. The beggar was crippled. Peter told him to rise and walk in the name of Jesus Christ. He did just that to the glory of God. Today, the power of God is still in the name of Jesus Christ. By believing in His name, we are saved from the law of sin and death (Acts 16:31). It is in the name of Jesus that we receive power to become the children of God (John 1:12). Also, it is in the authority of Jesus that the believer receives the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38-39).
Have you found the power of God in your life? Anyone may experience the power of God through faith in the good news of Christ. He died for our sins. He was raised from the dead, that we may have eternal life. The apostle Paul put it this way, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to all who believe" (Romans 1:16). Finding God's power is believing on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Father, we receive power that forgives all of our sins and gives eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
