"He remembers His covenant forever."
Psalm 105:8
A lady said to a Christian friend, "I must admit, I'm having a lot of doubts about my prayer life. I guess I just don't have enough faith." Her friend responded, "I have felt the same way, but someone taught me to base my prayers on the promises of God. My faith got stronger based on the the trustworthiness of God. It's like standing on a solid foundation." That's the key. When we pray standing on the promises of God, we are standing on the promises that cannot fail. "God, who cannot lie, promised before the world began" (Titus 1:2). The covenant promises of God are sure to all who believe.
The psalmist reminds us that God remembers His covenant forever. His covenant promises cannot fail. God's promises to all who trust in Him are forever. Those promises are for all who trust in our Lord Jesus Christ. "For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us" (2 Corinthians 1:20). Let me give you a few of those promises to every believer:
- To give everlasting life (John 3:16).
- To forgive all of our sins (1 John 1:7-9).
- To give us wisdom (James 1:5).
- To answer prayer (1 John 5:14-15).
The list of God's promises could go on and on. There are approximately 3,000 promises in the Bible. In Christ, the promises of God are for you. Make the Bible your prayer book. When you do, God's covenant promises are forever remembered in heaven. You can trust God's covenant.
Father, You remember Your covenant forever. We believe all Your promises through Christ, who is our Yes and Amen.
