How God Loves Us

"I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax. It has melted within Me. My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and My tongue clings to My jaws. You have brought Me to the dust of death."

Psalm 22:14-15

The man's son was having serious doubts about his faith. He asked his father, "How can I really know that God loves me?"  The father responded, "Look at the cross of Jesus. That tells it all. God gave His Son to die for your sins, because He loves you. That's real love. I wouldn't think of letting you die for someone else. I would do everything in my power to stop it. That's how much I love you, but God loves you more than I ever could. He gave His Son to a terrible death for you." His son said, "Dad, I know you love me, and when I think about God letting His Son die for me, it's hard to believe that He could love me that much."

"Love so amazing, so divine" is seen in the prophecy of Psalm 22 concerning the death of Christ. Read it for yourself. It is a detailed description of the death of Christ which happened centuries later. The accuracy of fulfillment is amazing, but more amazing is God's great love for us as sinners. Jesus said, "Greater love has no man than this" (John 15:13).

Do you know how much God loves you? Some people find it hard to believe that God loves them, because they have been rejected by others. God's love receives you. There are some who doubt God's love, because they have suffered so much. God's love in Christ suffered terribly for you. Still, there are those who feel unworthy to believe God loves them. God's unconditional love is for the worst of sinners (Romans 5:8). Look at the cross of Jesus. That's how God loves us.

God, we receive Your love for us through Christ crucified. Amen.
