"I have loved you with an everlasting love;
therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you."
therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you."
Jeremiah 31:3
As a boy I was excited about going to the theatre to see the movie, "Gone with the Wind." I thought sure it would be filled with action scenes of armies fighting. Was I surprised, when I saw that it was really a love story. The Bible tells stories about armies fighting, but it is primarily a love story. It's the greatest love story ever told. God loves us even as sinners, and He proved His love for us forever at the cross of Jesus (Romans 5:8). His love for us is the greatest, because He loves us with an everlasting love.
Two preachers were talking. Their discussion was about a question. What message would you preach, if you could only preach one? The younger preacher said, "I would warn people of judgment." The older preacher responded, "I certainly believe in the judgment to come, but I would preach on the love of God. If they receive God's love, then they will be okay at the judgment."
The Bible teaches both the judgment of God and the love of God. However, we need not fear the judgment, if we have received the love of God in Christ. "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love" (1 John 4:18).

Is the greatest love story your story? That is to say, have you received God's love? The Holy Spirit fills our hearts with the love of God (Romans 5:5). Receiving God's love is receiving God's Son. Believing Christ is believing God's love for you. It's one thing to talk about love. It's something else to experience God's love. Ask God to fill you with His love today. He will.
God, fill our hearts with Your love.
