"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest."
Matthew 11:28
A lady shared her problems with a friend. She said, "Sometime, I feel like I have a hundred pounds weighing heavily upon me, and I can't ever rest." Her friend was a Christian. She shared our verse for today with the distressed lady. The lady said to her friend, "That sounds really wonderful, too good to be true. I would like to think that the Lord would be willing to do that for me." Her friend said, "Read it again. Notice the word all. That includes you. The Lord says to you, 'I will."
Stuart Hamblen wrote a song with these words, "It is no secret what God can do. What He's done for others, He'll do for you." Doubt says, "I know God can do that, but I'm not sure that He will do it for me." Faith says, "God has promised to all. That includes me. The Lord will." The promises of God in the Bible are plain and clear. Only faith will take God at His word.
A vibrant prayer life is based upon the sure promises of the living God. "For all the promises of God in Him [Christ] are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us" (1 Cor. 1:20). Our very faith to believe God to work in our lives comes through the word of God. "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17). Let us determine to base our prayer requests on the promises of God's word. God's word is God's will. That means the Lord will.
Lord, I believe Your word. You are willing to give, and I will receive.
