"But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength."
Isaiah 40:31
"Waiting Room" were the words painted on the sign over the door. It was that room in the hospital where family and friends waited, while a loved one was having surgery. It's not easy to wait. I have never met anyone who seemed to enjoy waiting. Anxiety mounts fast as a surgery lasts longer than expected. A report from the operating room is always important. Every word is weighed carefully.
There are times when believers must wait upon the LORD. During those days, months or maybe years, every word in the promises of the Bible should be weighed carefully. As LORD of the covenant with His people, God's word shall never fail.
We easily become weary in waiting for God to do something in our lives, or the lives of a loved one. It would be too easy to give up. His time and season does not always fit our schedule. We only see pieces of the puzzle. He sees the finished product. His view is complete. We only see through a glass darkly (1 Cor. 13:12). Good things happen to people who dare to wait on God.
Are you waiting for a prayer to be answered in your life, or the life of someone you love? Have you based your prayer on a promise of God? Maybe it has been a long time since you first prayed about it. Does that mean God will not answer? No. It means you are waiting on the promise of God which cannot fail. You say, "God has not answered my prayer." You should say, "God has not answered my prayer YET." Learn to wait on God and renew your strength.
LORD, we wait on You to renew our strength.
