"For through Him (Christ) we both have access
by one Spirit to the Father."
Ephesians 2:18
A church member was teasing his pastor saying, "You have a straight line to God." The pastor quickly responded, "You can too. It's a toll free number, 1-800-JESUS." Do you ever think that others may be able to access God, but not you? Well, the truth according to the Bible is every believer has direct access to God our Father through the merit of Jesus Christ.
Many people are afraid that they are not good enough to talk with God. The truth is, none of us are. However, we have access to God through Christ. He is the one and only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5). That's the reason we pray in Jesus name. We have immediate access to God through Christ. It's not how good we are, but it's how worthy Jesus is.
Our access to God is through the work of the Holy Spirit. "Likewise the Spirit also helps our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought" (Romans 8:26). The apostle Paul admits in this verse that he is like all the rest of us, because he didn't know how to pray. Yet, the Holy Spirit lives in every believer (Romans 8:9) to help us pray. We may not know the exact words to use, but the Spirit helps us talk to the Father. He gives us access to God.
As a believer in Jesus Christ, you have access to God through the Holy Spirit who lives in you. Your access to God is anytime and anywhere. He hears your prayer in the name of Jesus. He is there for you in the presence of the Holy Spirit. Call upon Him freely and often. God is your Father. He delights in hearing from all of His children. You have access to God.
Father, we delight in talking with you through the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus.
