How God Leads Us

"And lead me in the way everlasting."

Psalm 139:24

A man asked his pastor, "How can we really know that God is leading in our lives? I really want Him to lead me, but I'm not exactly sure how it works." The pastor answered, "Well, it's encouraging to know that you want God to lead in your life. All of us need to be taught how God leads us." The pastor taught him how God leads each believer by the Holy Spirit.

God's Spirit leads us through the Scripture. The Bible is Holy Scripture, because it is inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God still speaks to us through the Bible. It is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.

God's Spirit works in our hearts to do God's will. "For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure" (Philippians 2:13).

God's Spirit leads us in all things for His glory. "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Is God leading in your life? Only you can answer that question. Ask yourself three questions when you consider how God may be leading you. First, what does the Bible say? Secondly, what good desire has God put in my heart? Finally, and most importantly, will I be doing this for the glory of God? Affirmative answers to these questions can give you assurance that He is leading in your life.

Lead us Lord according to Your will and for Your glory.
